Katherine Knaapen, PT, DPT – Pediatric Physical Therapist
Katie graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She went on to
complete her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Northwestern University.
Throughout her clinical experiences Katie treated both children and adults in a variety of inpatient and
outpatient settings, yet she feels most at home working with children and their families. While at
Northwestern, Katie sought every opportunity to further her knowledge of pediatric physical therapy
and participated in a variety of experiences including working with a research team looking at the
perspectives of teens with CP toward physical therapy, completing a GoBabyGo build to provide a child
with an alternative mobility system, and volunteering with Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN) Chicago.
Katie has experience working with children with diagnoses including, but not limited to: developmental
delay, torticiollis, prematurity, seizure disorders, autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, hypotonia,
and toe walking. Katie looks forward to supporting children and their families in meeting their goals and
using her creativity to develop optimal environments for growth.
