Get Ready for Preschool With Little Steps

Learning numbers on a blackboardOne question that will come up during the first few years of your child’s life is whether or not to send them to preschool and, if you do, when they will be ready for a classroom setting. It’s important to make sure they have the skills necessary to adapt to and thrive in this new environment.

For parents who want to take steps to help their children acquire those skills, Little Steps Pediatric Therapy is proud to announce the full-scale launch of a preschool readiness program that prepares young children for the classroom. Kids who participate in the program learn essential skills such as reading, writing, and counting. In addition to helping with the achievement of important milestones, our preschool readiness program also provides socialization that kids need to succeed at school.

Our preschool readiness program has tracks for two age groups: 2-3 year olds and 3-4 year olds. Each group of participants usually includes four or five kids. The lead teacher for the program, Vanesa Corado, creates a classroom environment that helps children learn from each other. Her curriculum takes into account each individual child’s needs and addresses areas of difficulty and everyday tasks – in addition to incorporating hands-on activities to help participants learn and have fun at the same time.

Vanesa is also our Spanish interpreter/translator and holds a bachelor’s degree in bilingual/multicultural education with minors in sociology and Latino/Latin American studies from Northeastern Illinois University. She has always been passionate about working with children, and through extensive research projects she has learned the importance of family and the community surrounding the child in terms of how these factors affect development.

Aside from our preschool readiness program, Little Steps focuses on helping children of all ages by providing pediatric therapy services – including physical, speech, occupational, and developmental therapy. We’re seeking to change and improve children’s lives one step at a time with comprehensive, educational, and compassionate care.
